Constable Badge
In-game item text, all 4 tiers
Trainee Constable Badge
The question is: was it a passion for the police force that brought you here? Or was it merely a fallback, upon failing to join the military?
Qualified Constable Badge
Regardless of my initial intentions, at least now, I feel the weight of justice upon my shoulders.
Distinguished Constable Badge
Stacks of paperwork and endless reports all serve to temper one's character.
Elite Constable Badge
While justice may not always shine bright, still, it must persist.
Nobody reads ascension materials. You farm them, you spend them, and the description panel closes before you have looked at it. That is where Silver Palace has hidden some of its best writing.
The Constable Badge ladder is four items in the Other Materials pool, one per rarity tier, and they are written to be read in order.
The arc
The first badge opens with a question rather than a boast. It asks whether you joined the River Constabulary out of conviction, or whether you washed up there after the military turned you down. That is an unusually sour note for a tier-one grind drop, and it sets up everything after it.
The second answers it. Whatever brought the wearer in, the weight is real now. The third does not escalate, which is the interesting choice: instead of a heroic beat, you get paperwork. Reports and forms, and the claim that they temper a person. The fourth lands on something closer to endurance than triumph. Justice does not always shine, and it has to persist anyway.
Recruit, conviction, tedium, endurance. That is not a power fantasy. It is a job.
Why this matters for the roster
The game has exactly one Constabulary officer you can play. Lorin is a chief inspector who, by his own intel card, gave up a promising fight career for a pen and a desk. The badge ladder is the institutional version of that biography, written from the inside and attached to a drop table rather than to him.
Read them together and the third badge stops being filler. The line about paperwork tempering character is the same trade Lorin made, told by the organisation that asked him to make it.
Where the text sits
All four badges drop from Info Exchange, Craft and Combat Approaches, and the site lists them by name on the ascension materials page without their flavour text. Nowhere else on the internet publishes what they actually say.
That is the point of this section. The game scattered a coherent piece of writing across four inventory rows, priced it as a grind, and trusted that somebody would eventually put it back together.
