Silver Palace Motives
动机
Motives are Silver Palace's equivalent of weapons: top-rarity gear pulled from their own gacha banner, each themed around one of six Identity archetypes.
Motives are Silver Palace's equivalent of weapons: top-rarity gear you equip on a character to grant a Base Attack, secondary stats such as CRIT or ATK%, and a Motive Skill, the named unique effect that particular Motive carries. Unlike a traditional weapon, a Motive is a 2D equipment item, and most are built around a specific character's playstyle rather than being a generic stat stick.
Every Motive you see in the game carries an Identity label, one of six narrative archetypes from Silvernia's story: Hero, Guardian, Outlaw, Victim, Saviour, Witness. That label is also the gear gate: a Motive's special effect applies to characters of its matching Identity, the same way only Sword characters equip Swords in Genshin Impact. The database further down lists all 40 Motives, 9 of them 5-star, and each entry has a page with its HP and ATK at every level from 1 to 80, its effect at all five refine levels, and the full breakthrough material cost.
How the Motive Banner Works
Motives are not crafted or bought outright; you pull them from a dedicated Motive banner that mirrors the structure of the character banner. The key detail is currency: you roll the Motive banner with Deduction Shots, which are separate from the Judgement Shots used on character banners. Because the two currencies are separate, pulling on one banner never builds pity on the other, so you plan each banner's budget on its own.
The rate table sits in the same range as characters, with one important difference in the pity ceiling:
- 0.8% base 5-star rate, rising to roughly 1.8% overall once average pity is folded in.
- A 4-star result is guaranteed at least every 10 Revelations.
- 93.2% of pulls land in the 3-star Motive pool, with equal odds inside that pool.
- 80 Revelations guarantee the current featured 5-star Motive, a lower ceiling than the 100-pull character guarantee.
- When a 5-star Motive drops, there is a flat 50% chance it is the featured one; miss the 50/50 and the next 5-star is guaranteed to be featured.
If you want the full pull-economy picture, including how Deduction Shots and Judgement Shots are earned, read the gacha system guide. New players deciding what to chase first should also check the reroll guide.

Motives, Combat Style, and Identity
Three systems get mixed up constantly, so it is worth separating them cleanly:
- Identity is the narrative archetype label printed on each Motive card above (Hero, Guardian, Outlaw, Victim, Saviour, Witness). It describes a character's role in Silvernia's story, not how they fight.
- Combat Style is the confirmed gameplay role system (Resonance DPS, Striker DPS, Break Suppressor, Combat Support, and Survival & Healing). Earlier expo footage translated these as Resonator Output, Striker Output, Break Oppressor, Combat Vanguard and Survival Healer; they are the same five roles. This is the filter that actually matters when you decide which Motive complements a character in battle.
- Motive is the gear itself: the equippable item that carries the Base Attack, secondary stats, and Motive Skill.
In short, the Identity tag on a card tells you which story archetype the Motive is themed around, while Combat Style tells you how it plays. For the deeper breakdown of gameplay roles, see the Combat Styles guide.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Motive in Silver Palace?
A Motive is Silver Palace's equivalent of a weapon: top-rarity gear you equip on a character to grant stats and a named passive. Motives are pulled from their own gacha banner, separate from the character banner, and each one carries an Identity label such as Hero, Guardian, or Witness.
How do you pull Motives?
Motives come from a dedicated Motive banner that you roll using Deduction Shots. That currency is separate from the Judgement Shots used on character banners, so pulling on one banner never builds pity on the other.
What is the pity for a 5-star Motive?
80 Revelations guarantee the current featured 5-star Motive, a lower ceiling than the 100-pull character guarantee. When a 5-star Motive drops, there is a flat 50% chance it is the featured one.
Are Motive Identities the same as Combat Styles?
No. The Identity label shown on a Motive card (Hero, Guardian, Outlaw, Victim, Saviour, Witness) is a narrative archetype from Silvernia's story. The gameplay role system is a separate mechanic called Combat Style. Treat the two as different systems.
