Boss Story & Lore

头目背景故事

Who you fight in Silver Palace and why: the story behind Rex, the Unruly Trio, Miss Maid, and the rest of the confirmed bosses, grounded in the beta story.

Grounded in Beta Story Footage & In-Game Dialogue

Silver Palace is a detective story first and an action game second, so its bosses are not faceless damage checks. They are people caught up in the city's unraveling: a rising tide of werewolf attacks, gang turf wars, black-market reactors, and the long shadow of a missing crime lord. This guide covers who each confirmed boss is and why you end up fighting them, grounded in the beta story footage. For the mechanics of each fight, pair it with the Boss Combat Guide.

The game is still in closed beta, so some boss backstories have only been shown in fragments. Where the story is clear, this guide lays it out. Where it is not, it says so rather than filling the gap with invention.

Quick Answer

The confirmed Silver Palace bosses are woven into a detective mystery about werewolf attacks and gang crime. Rex is the Navy superintendent who obstructs your investigation and becomes a rival duelist. The Academic Rebels "The Unruly Trio" are Alex, Bobo, and Caesar, followers of the missing Lord Silverfist. Miss Maid is a servant sworn to obey her masters. The Savage Enforcer, Manager and Supervisor, Medallion Knight, and the paired Vita et Mors round out the confirmed encounters, some with story roles still to be revealed.

The City in Crisis

The story opens with a city on edge. Citizens speak of "werewolves and gangs around every corner", crime rising while an overstretched constabulary struggles to cope. A werewolf even disrupts the Queen's coronation celebrations, and the Navy is eventually pulled in because the crime rate stays "through the roof". This is the pressure cooker that produces the game's antagonists. Most bosses are not cartoon villains but symptoms of a city losing control.

One of the in-game Classical Curations documents puts a household to that statistic. A newspaper interview titled "Report: A Chef's Hat" catches up with a chef named Willoughby after a werewolf attack has left the news cycle. His six-year-old survived because a fellow chef, Alex, pressed his hat over the child's eyes so he would not see what was happening, and the child now cannot sleep without holding that hat. Willoughby speaks about Alex in the past tense throughout. The interview ends with the boy, asked what he would say to Alex if he could, promising: "I'll kill every last werewolf! For you!" That is the crisis these bosses come out of, and it is also how it renews itself. (This Alex is a chef and not the Academic Rebel of the same name.)

Running underneath it all is the technology of reactors, compact power cores capable of generating extreme heat and force, and the mysterious substance that leaks from them. Reactors turn up as murder weapons, black-market goods, and the engine of a corporate arms race. Keep that backdrop in mind: it connects many of the people you fight.

The Bosses and Their Stories

Rex, the Superintendent

Rex the Superintendent facing the detective in an autumn courtyard in Silver Palace

Rex is the most story-driven boss of the confirmed roster. He is the superintendent sent by the Navy to take personal charge of the river constabulary once the werewolf situation spirals. From his first appearance he is an obstacle: he seizes a body taken into evidence, blocks the detective's access to the case, and makes it clear that authority, not truth, is his priority. The detective's frustration is open, vowing to "meet with the superintendent and impress upon him the gravity of this case."

That institutional friction is what eventually turns personal. The rivalry between the detective and Rex builds through the middle chapters until it spills into a one-on-one duel, the moment the "Rex | Superintendent" boss banner appears. He is less a monster than a man convinced he is upholding order, which is exactly what makes him dangerous.

The Academic Rebels "The Unruly Trio"

Alex, Bobo and Caesar, the Unruly Trio rebels, in a graffiti-covered yard in Silver Palace

This trio is Alex, Bobo, and Caesar, three young rebels who worship the crime lord Lord Silverfist. Silverfist is a legend to them, an anti-authority figure who "hated schools and authority figures", and they cling to his memory even though he is gone. The detective turns this devotion into a lever, impersonating Silverfist through a forged tag and a coded message to steer the youths away from crime. The famous instruction they receive is to "go back to school", which is why their banner names them the Academic Rebels. Their fight is a three-on-one brawl in a rebel-tagged yard, and it is as much a story about misguided loyalty as it is a combat encounter.

Miss Maid

Miss Maid, a rifle-wielding servant, outside a mansion in Silver Palace

Miss Maid represents the servants who answer to the city's powerful households. Their creed is stated plainly in the story: "as Miss Maids, we have but one duty, to obey." That single line frames her as a weapon pointed by someone else's hand, a servant carrying out orders rather than a villain with her own agenda. The specifics of whose orders she follows in her boss encounter have not been fully detailed in the footage shown.

Savage Enforcer

The Savage Enforcer, a knife fighter wreathed in dark energy, in a dockside alley in Silver Palace

The Savage Enforcer is the street-level face of the city's gang problem, encountered in the back alleys and dockside districts where organized crime festers. As a boss he embodies the "gangs around every corner" the citizens fear. His precise allegiance and role in the larger plot are not yet confirmed, but he fits the game's pattern of muscle-for-hire born from a city where trade is "dying on its feet" and desperation runs high.

Manager and Supervisor

The Manager and Supervisor duo in a machinery-lined hall in Silver Palace

The Manager and Supervisor are a paired boss set in an industrial, machinery-filled hall, an arena that hints at a corporate or factory backdrop. The story features a reactor arms race led by companies such as UMI, which is described as "mass-producing reactors" and becoming "a major contender" against older powers. Whether this duo is tied to that corporate world is a reasonable read from their setting, but their explicit story role has not been confirmed and should be treated as unrevealed for now.

Medallion Knight

The Medallion Knight, a mounted armored boss, in an open plaza in Silver Palace

The Medallion Knight is a mounted, heavily armored boss fought in an open plaza. Knights appear in the story as part of the ceremonial and protective forces around the crown, present in force at major events. The Medallion Knight's specific identity and how it connects to the main mystery have not been revealed in the footage available, so its lore remains open.

Vita et Mors

Vita et Mors, twin ethereal figures of life and death on a throne in Silver Palace

Vita et Mors, Latin for "Life and Death", is a paired, ethereal encounter with two throned figures sharing a single boss bar. Its name and imagery place it outside the street-level criminal cast: this is thematic, closer to allegory than to a suspect.

The Dichotomy beta gives it a position in the story. It is the prologue encounter, fought on the airship, with the Detective intervening in a clash between Vita and Mors rather than being hunted by either. Opening the game on a fight between life and death, aboard the airship, is a deliberate piece of framing given what the airship means to the Detective's history. Our story recap covers that history in full.

The Wolf King is a named boss reached differently from the rest of this list. Rather than arriving through a story beat, he holds a repeatable map encounter, Wolf King's Hunt, at Felix, Morgue Street, High Peers, which drops the specific Epiphany titles tied to that fight. The equipment guide covers that loop.

His encounter card is the only official text about him:

"The hunting ground of the Wolf King. Here, the law of the jungle rules over all.
To enter upon it is both brave, and reckless. Yet there are cunning predators who present themselves as prey, as you shall see. Perhaps this shall become your own hunting ground, in time."

Two things stand out. The in-game spelling is Wolf King, not King Wolf. And "cunning predators who present themselves as prey" restates the werewolf definition exactly: a Metal-Blooded beast passes for an ordinary citizen until high-purity Silverium exposes them. The card then turns the phrase on the player. See the Metal-Blooded lore guide for what that category covers.

Beyond the card, released material is silent on him. He has no confirmed story role, and it is not established whether he appears in the campaign at all. Closed beta players report that he was among the bosses reworked in the combat overhaul alongside Rex, which is a community account rather than an official one.

How the Bosses Fit Together

Taken together, the confirmed bosses map the layers of a city in trouble. Rex is the failing institution. The Unruly Trio and the Savage Enforcer are the street. Miss Maid is the servant class bound to obey the powerful. The Manager and Supervisor gesture at the corporate reactor race, the Wolf King rules a hunting ground the city's law never reaches, and Vita et Mors hangs over it all as something stranger. You do not simply fight monsters in Silver Palace. You work a case, and the bosses are the suspects, obstacles, and casualties along the way.
