Silver Palace Commissions Guide

Every job in the game sits on one screen. The five categories, what each pays, the twelve districts City Errands are filed under, and the 25 items the work asks you to carry.

Based on Hands-On Dichotomy Beta Testing12 districts25 quest items

Most games with this much side content bury it in a quest log you learn to ignore. Silver Palace puts all of it on one screen, sorts it by how far away it is, and pays you in a currency called Reputation for doing the small stuff. The screen is titled Commissions, and it is the closest thing the game has to a table of contents.

It also hides its own best joke in plain sight. The main story sits under the same headers as a job about a man obsessed with photographing street lamps, and the game charges you the same button press for both.

This guide covers the whole system as it ran in the Dichotomy Beta: what the screen shows, the five categories and what each pays, the twelve districts City Errands are filed under, and the 25 quest items the jobs actually ask you to carry.

What a Commission is

A Commission is one unit of work. The list sits on the left of the screen under a collapsible category header, and each row carries three things: the job name, the district it starts in, and the distance to it in metres. Selecting a row fills the right-hand panel with an objective, a paragraph of setup and a Possible Rewards row.

Two things about the layout are worth knowing before you use it.

The distance column is a route planner, not a difficulty rating. Rows sort with the nearest work at hand, so the cheapest way to clear City Errands is to open the list, take everything inside a few hundred metres, and walk one loop rather than commuting per job. Those metre readings depend on where you are standing when you open the screen, so treat them as relative.

The Evidence Board button sits in the bottom-left corner of the same screen. The deduction board and the job list are one click apart, which is the structural hint that Curious Cases are not a separate mode: they are commissions that happen to need the board. The interrogation guide covers that side.

The five commission types

Five category headers appeared across the beta captures. Payout tracks the header, not the length of the job.

Category What it is Reactor Crystals per job
Major Cases The main story, in fixed order Story rewards
Curious Cases Self-contained mysteries with more than one ending 600
Private Requests Jobs led by one named character 180
City Errands Neighbourhood tasks, filed by district 50
Business Expansion Jobs that introduce a system 50

A single Curious Case is worth twelve City Errands. That ratio is the whole priority list: if you are short on crystals and long on time, Curious Cases first, then Private Requests, and treat errands as something you clear while walking between the two.

There is a second reward layer, and it is easy to double count. Finishing a family also pays its achievements, which are separate from the per-job payout above. Across the four families below that is 410 Reactor Crystals, all of it one-time.

City Errands and the twelve districts

City Errands are the only family filed by geography, and their achievements are the one place the game publishes that geography as a list. Twelve districts across three streets, one silver achievement each, 240 Reactor Crystals for the set.

Street District Achievement Crystals
Morgue Street Riverside Neighbourhood Hero 20
Bridgehead Get Your Hands Dirty 20
Meadow Lush Landscapes 20
Felix Let Them Eat... Bread 20
Four Crowns Street Finance Quarter Money Never Sleeps 20
UMI Branch Quarter White-Collar Work 20
First Crown Trendsetter 20
Central Toroid Towering Toroid 20
Sentinel Moral Compass 20
Boutique Silver Tongue 20
Dayfair Way North Church Quarter The Break of Day 20
South Church Quarter Dawning Concerto 20

The tutorial gives the reason to bother beyond the crystals: complete City Errands to learn more about Silvernia's affairs and earn Reputation. These are the jobs that hand you the city's gossip.

Two notes on the names. The achievements write the location street first while the Commissions screen writes it district first, and the screen is not consistent with itself, printing "Riverside, Morgue Street" on one row and "Morgue Street, Meadow" on the next. And the achievement for the Felix district says only Felix, where the site's district map publishes Felix West and Felix East from separate footage. The achievement wording is what the table above prints.

Four errands are legible by name on the captures:

A Thousand Whys Riverside, Morgue Street
Obey the prescription South Church Quarter
A Return to Better Times Bridgehead, Morgue Street

Private Requests

A Private Request is built around one character rather than one district, and at 180 Reactor Crystals it pays more than three errands. Six exist so far, each with its own bronze achievement.

Request Location as printed Achievement Crystals
The New Moon's Secret Friends Riverside, Morgue Street The New Moon's Blessing 10
A Terrible Role Model Sentinel, Four Crowns Street A True Role Model 10
By the Book Not shown Bankruptcy Broker 10
Where's Kaboom Not shown Kaboom Team, Assemble! 10
Bewildered Bunny and Mr Horse Morgue Street, Meadow Bunny's Four-Leaf Clover 10
Not yet translated Not shown Scientific Approach 10

The sixth row is genuinely unfinished rather than hidden: the Scientific Approach achievement's goal text is still the raw string 1964010206, so the job it pays for has no published name yet.

Bewildered Bunny and Mr Horse is the one to read if you only read one. A group of children in the park are frantically searching for a missing "bunny knight", and helping them untangle it ends with the knight riding into the arena of the Royal Equestrian Tournament. That single job connects a Private Request, the minigame circuit, Gratia's own story, and two of the quest items further down this page. It is also the clearest example of what the family is for: the errand is the excuse, the character is the point.

Curious Cases

Curious Cases are the mysteries with more than one answer, and their achievement group is the proof. Four achievements, and three of them are about how you finish rather than whether you finish.

Achievement Goal Medal Crystals
Midnight Echoes Complete "The Resurrection Enigma". Bronze 10
The Game Is Afoot Achieve any ending for the first time. Bronze 10
The Truth Will Out Achieve the true ending of "The Resurrection Enigma". Silver 20
Enigmatic Return Use "Restart Deduction" for the first time. Bronze 10

Read those together and the design is explicit. You can reach an ending, learn it was the wrong one, and use Restart Deduction to run the case again for the true ending, and the game pays you a first-time achievement for doing exactly that. A wrong verdict is a step in the intended path, not a failed attempt.

Only one Curious Case is named on the captures, The Resurrection Enigma in Riverside: a mystery in a cemetery at night, a vanishing wound, a theory of resurrection, and a doctor who has disappeared from their own clinic.

Business Expansion

Business Expansion is the family that hands you a new system and then gets out of the way. Three are legible on the captures:

Job Location as printed
Lost Package Felix, Morgue Street
The First Step to Becoming an Acquaintance Riverside, Morgue Street
City Exploration Felix, Morgue Street

Lost Package is the one with visible plumbing. Its items sit in the mirror complete: a Lost Package is a self-delivering parcel built with Silvercraft technology that gets lost constantly in the winding streets, and the Package Locator is a single-use cardboard parcel powered by Silverillia that flies toward the nearest one. Both are filed outside the Commissions tab, and the mechanical life post covers what they say about the city's machines.

The pattern also explains the two systems the site already documents as standalone pages. Property Investment and the Civic Commissions Board both begin as a job in this list, and both keep running long after the job is closed.

The board is worth naming properly here, because the game and this site have been using different words for it. A bounty contract is a Bounty Writ: the achievement group of that name asks you to complete your first, then ten, then twenty of them.

Achievement Goal Medal Crystals
Helping Hand Complete your first Bounty Writ. Bronze 10
Model Citizen Complete 10 Bounty Writs. Silver 20
Neighbourhood Saint Complete 20 Bounty Writs. Gold 30

Twenty writs is the only gold medal in any commission family, and the board refreshes hourly, so it is the one family you can finish on demand.

Major Cases

Major Cases is the campaign, 16 of them, running in a fixed order. This guide does not list them, because their goal text summarises the plot of each scene it pays for. If you want the story, play it or read the story recap, which is written to be read deliberately.

The one thing worth saying about the category is structural: it shares the screen, the tracking button and the reward row with a job about a lost sandwich. Silver Palace does not put its story in a separate mode.

Reputation

Reputation is the Detective's standing in Silvernia, and it is what the small jobs actually buy. Its own description names them:

Reputation is built from more than just cracking sensational cases that send ripples through Silvernia. The little things matter, too: whether it's retrieving a package, running an errand, or solving one of the many puzzles out on the streets.

The line under it is better still: "A detective's duty is to see the reality mired in fiction, to lay mysteries to rest, and unveil the bare truth. And to find the neighbour's missing cat, from time to time, too."

The Silver Palace Reputation currency tooltip describing reputation built from cracking cases and running errands in Silvernia, with a reward count of 200

Reputation, shown as a Check-In Incentives payout in Hilbert's Hotel. Source: official Silver Palace Dichotomy Beta footage.

It comes from more than commissions. Hilbert's Hotel pays 200 from Check-In Incentives, chests pay 30, and a world puzzle pays 30 alongside its 5 Reactor Crystals. It banks into Reputation Levels, and those levels gate progression: the Mental Breakthrough advancement test unlocked at Reputation Level 20.

That gate is the argument for doing errands early rather than saving them. Reputation is the one commission reward that unlocks things instead of buying them.

The 25 quest items

Commissions have their own backpack tab, and the mirror holds 25 rows for it: 4 green and 21 blue, no rarity above that. None of them do anything. They are the things the jobs ask you to fetch, and their descriptions are the closest the game comes to writing about ordinary people.

Rows marked unassigned are not tied to a job named in any capture yet.

Custom Casino Chips quest item icon in Silver Palace Custom Casino Chips ★★★ unassigned A custom-made chip engraved with the gang's insignia. Such chips are light in the hand, yet placed upon a gambling table, they carry a great weight indeed. For once lost, they must be repaid with one's life.
Old Police Badge quest item icon in Silver Palace Old Police Badge ★★★ unassigned An old badge secured with a clasp, seemingly maintained over the years given its still-shiny surface. From the design and its glimmering finish, it would have likely been worn by one of the first constables to serve Silvernia.
Anonymous Knight's Medallion quest item icon in Silver Palace Anonymous Knight's Medallion ★★★ unassigned A medallion of sorts, dropped into the water by accident presumably. By who remains a mystery. Its surface is a little rusted as it's been submerged for so long.
Bunny-Shaped Sandwich quest item icon in Silver Palace Bunny-Shaped Sandwich ★★★ A sandwich packed by Gratia. It's stuffed full with orange, carrot, lettuce and a few slivers of cheese. You daren't imagine how it tastes.
Four-Leaf Clover Brooch quest item icon in Silver Palace Four-Leaf Clover Brooch ★★★ A jewel-adorned brooch designed in a clover shape. Said to bring the wearer good luck, be they human... or bunny.

Items that name their job

Three joins where both sides describe the same thing in released text.

  • Spinotrode-Obsessed Man. Photograph of the Spinotrode 1, Photograph of the Spinotrode 2 and Photograph of the Spinotrode 3. Three close-up photographs of a street-side Spinotrode, each taken by the Detective, against a City Errand named for a man obsessed with them.
  • Obey the prescription. Outpatient Medical Records. Outpatient medical records handwritten by Dr Firtho of the Corner Clinic, carrying diagnoses and treatment plans, against a City Errand about following one.
  • Bewildered Bunny and Mr Horse. Bunny-Shaped Sandwich and Four-Leaf Clover Brooch. A sandwich packed by Gratia and a clover brooch for a wearer who may be human or bunny, against a Private Request about a missing bunny knight and the achievement Bunny's Four-Leaf Clover.

Items that read as a job

Two clusters where the items group cleanly and nothing states the link. Treated as a match, not a fact.

  • A Return to Better Times. Fateful Encounters Bottle Cap, Bridgehead Primary School Badge and Poor Quality Beer. Three keepsakes that all describe Bridgehead after its commercial district rose and fell, against the one City Errand the captures place in Bridgehead. Nothing states the link.
  • A children's errand. Exquisite Fork, Puzzle Book of the Maze, Nutritious Milk, Intricate Telescope, Card and Seed from the Tower. Six consecutive rows, every one of them addressed to children: eating well, adventuring safely from home, nutritional needs, discovering the world, fighting off illness, and a seed to return to a young girl. They read as one job, and no job name in the captures matches them.

The rest stand alone, and they are the reason this list is worth reading. A groom's worn wedding ring engraved "HW & BW". An old police badge, still polished, from one of the first constables to serve Silvernia. Custom casino chips carrying a gang's insignia, light in the hand and repaid with your life. A medallion dropped in the water by someone unknown. None of them explains itself. Together they are a city's lost property office, which is a more honest picture of Silvernia than most of what the story tells you outright.

Commissions FAQ

What are Commissions in Silver Palace?

Commissions are Silver Palace’s quest system. Every job in the game, from the main story to a neighbour’s lost keepsake, is listed on one screen titled Commissions, grouped under category headers. Each row gives the job name, the district it starts in and how far away it is, and selecting one opens an objective, a description and a Possible Rewards row.

What are the five Commission types?

The Dichotomy Beta commission list showed five category headers: Major Cases, Curious Cases, Private Requests, City Errands and Business Expansion. Major Cases is the main story, Curious Cases are the branching mysteries, Private Requests are character-led jobs, City Errands are the neighbourhood tasks, and Business Expansion is where new systems get introduced.

What do Commissions reward?

Rewards track the category rather than the length of the job. City Errands and Business Expansion jobs paid 50 Reactor Crystals, Private Requests 180, and Curious Cases 600, each alongside Ounce and often character EXP. A single Curious Case is worth twelve City Errands.

What is Reputation used for in Silver Palace?

Reputation is the Detective’s standing in Silvernia and the currency City Errands pay in. Its in-game description credits the small jobs directly: retrieving a package, running an errand, or solving one of the many puzzles out on the streets. It accumulates into Reputation Levels, and those levels gate progression content: the Mental Breakthrough advancement test unlocked at Reputation Level 20.

How many City Errands districts are there?

Twelve, and each one has its own completion achievement. Morgue Street carries four (Riverside, Bridgehead, Meadow, Felix), Four Crowns Street six (Finance Quarter, UMI Branch Quarter, First Crown, Central Toroid, Sentinel, Boutique) and Dayfair Way two (North Church Quarter, South Church Quarter). Clearing all twelve pays 240 Reactor Crystals.

What is a Private Request?

A Private Request is a commission tied to one character rather than to a district. Six are in the game so far, including Bewildered Bunny and Mr Horse, where a group of children in the park have lost their bunny knight and the trail ends at the Royal Equestrian Tournament. They pay 180 Reactor Crystals each, the second-highest commission payout.

What is the difference between a Curious Case and a Major Case?

Major Cases are the campaign, sixteen of them, and they run in a fixed order. Curious Cases are self-contained mysteries with more than one outcome: their achievements reward reaching any ending, reaching the true ending, and using Restart Deduction for the first time. That last one confirms you can rerun a Curious Case rather than living with your first verdict.

Is the Civic Commissions Board the same as Commissions?

No. Commissions is the quest system that covers every job in the game. The Civic Commissions Board is one bounty board inside it, whose repeatable contracts the game calls Bounty Writs and which pays Glory Coin rather than Reactor Crystals. The board has its own guide.
