Heirloom Metal-Blooded Claw item art from Silver Palace

Metal-Blooded Claw

In-game item text, all 4 tiers

  1. Crude Metal-Blooded Claw

Claws and fangs look so much alike. It hints at their similar origins.

  2. Intact Metal-Blooded Claw

No one knows that the creator of the Metal-Blooded wears a luxurious crown forged with lies.

  3. Rare Metal-Blooded Claw

One must pass through the darkness to reach the light.

Peace can only be earned by starting wars.

  4. Heirloom Metal-Blooded Claw

Once, these talons steeped in hatred and fangs sharpened by vengeance served to protect.

The Metal-Blooded are enemies you kill for parts. Their claws are a common Potential Break material, four rarity tiers of the same drop, and the item descriptions treat them as loot: incredibly sharp, dropped by the Metal-Blooded, used for ascension. The flavour text underneath is running an argument.

The arc

The first line is anatomical and short. Claws and fangs look alike, and that hints at a shared origin. On its own it reads as a nature note.

The second detonates. Nobody knows that the creator of the Metal-Blooded wears a luxurious crown forged with lies. Every word of that is doing work. Somebody made the Metal-Blooded on purpose. That somebody is still alive, wears a crown, and holds it on a lie. That is on a blue-tier grind drop.

The third defends the person it just accused, or at least gives them a script. One must pass through darkness to reach light. Peace is earned by starting wars. This is what the crown says to itself.

The fourth is elegiac and changes the tense. Once, these talons steeped in hatred and fangs sharpened by vengeance served to protect. The creatures you farm were made as guardians and turned into something else, and the ladder puts that at the top tier where you are least likely to read it.

What it commits to

The Metal-Blooded overview can tell you what they are and where they appear. It cannot tell you who is responsible, because nothing in the published material says so outright. This ladder does, in the only way the game permits: an unattributed line on an item nobody quotes.

A crown narrows the field considerably. Silvernia has a royal family with a documented line of succession, and the word choice is crown rather than throne or palace, which points at a wearer rather than an institution.

That is as far as the text goes, and further than any other source goes. Worth an edge on the board and worth remembering the next time a quest hands you three hundred of these and no explanation.
