Silver Palace Character Roles: Combat Style & Identity
Silver Palace Character Roles: Combat Style & Identity
Every playable character in Silver Palace carries two separate labels on the in-game Character Identity screen: a Combat Style that tells you the job they do in a fight, and an Identity that describes their narrative archetype in Silvernia's story. Preview footage of that screen has now surfaced for the full early roster, so this guide walks through all fourteen characters shown, what each label means, and which character sits where.
If you want the deeper mechanical breakdown of how these systems relate to the seven Reactor Attributes (the elements), read the Combat Style guide first. This post is the roster companion to it: a character-by-character reference.
Quick Answer
Combat Style is the gameplay role filter, with five values seen in the footage: Resonance DPS, Striker DPS, Break Suppressor, Combat Support, and Survival & Healing. Identity is a separate narrative label with six values: Hero, Guardian, Outlaw, Victim, Saviour, and Witness. Each character holds one of each. They do not determine one another: a Witness can be a healer or a buffer, and a Hero can be a striker or a stun-builder.
Two systems, not one
The single most common mistake in early Silver Palace coverage was reading Identity names like Hero or Witness as combat roles. They are not. The Character Identity screen shows both labels side by side precisely because they answer different questions.
| System | Question it answers | Values seen so far |
|---|---|---|
| Combat Style | What does this character do in a fight? | 5: Resonance DPS, Striker DPS, Break Suppressor, Combat Support, Survival & Healing |
| Identity | What kind of character are they in the story? | 6: Hero, Guardian, Outlaw, Victim, Saviour, Witness |
The five Combat Styles
These are the exact labels shown on the in-game English UI in this footage. Note that earlier expo previews used slightly different translations for the same five roles (Resonator Output, Striker Output, Break Oppressor, Combat Vanguard, Survival Healer), which is what the Combat Style guide documented. They describe the same categories; the wording below is the newer in-game version.
| Combat Style | Earlier translation | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Resonance DPS | Resonator Output | Deals damage by cashing in on the team's Resonance Effects |
| Striker DPS | Striker Output | Deals damage through its own skills, independent of team resonance |
| Break Suppressor | Break Oppressor | Builds up Stuns and breaks enemy poise |
| Combat Support | Combat Vanguard | Provides powerful buffs to allies |
| Survival & Healing | Survival Healer | Heals or shields allies |
The six Identities
Identity descriptions come straight from the game's Identity codex text. Read them and it is clear each one describes a story role, not a battlefield job.
| Identity | Description |
|---|---|
| Hero | One who leads with influence and shoulders the burden of difficult decisions |
| Guardian | One who guards a lifelong ideal with fierce devotion, willing to destroy anything that dares threaten what is sacred |
| Outlaw | One driven by powerful ambition and an impulse for destruction, who would do anything to accomplish a goal |
| Victim | One trapped by memories and unable to give up the past, who must also face sacrifice and departure |
| Saviour | One who possesses the wisdom to defy death, betray a predetermined fate, and bear the price that follows |
| Witness | One who observes, witnesses, records, and narrates everything to pass the story on |
Of the six, Victim is the only Identity with no character attached in this footage. Every other archetype appears at least once across the fourteen previews below.

A note on the numbers below: each preview was captured at a different character level, so the stat lines are not directly comparable. Where a character was shown above Level 1 (Bentham, Grimm, Firtho, and the Detective), that is flagged. Treat every value here as pre-release beta data.
Striker DPS
Striker DPS characters deal their damage through their own skill kits rather than leaning on team-wide Resonance Effects. They are the closest thing Silver Palace has to a self-sufficient carry.
Detective (Hero)

The Detective is the customizable protagonist, so the name shown on the screen reflects the player's own account rather than a fixed character name. In this preview the Detective is a Striker DPS with the Hero Identity, fielding a rapier and shown at Level 30 with 3,705 HP, 475 ATK, and 192 DEF, plus a heavily invested 46.82% CRIT Rate and 84.90% CRIT DMG. For the full protagonist breakdown, see the Detective guide.
Ashley, "Cinderella" (Outlaw)

Ashley, who fights under the Cinderella title, pairs Striker DPS with the Outlaw Identity, matching her ambition-and-destruction fairytale reimagining. At Level 1 she posts the highest base ATK of the low-level previews at 95, alongside 739 HP and 22 DEF, a glass-cannon profile that fits her flame-and-chains kit.
Resonance DPS
Resonance DPS characters are built to convert the team's Resonance Effects into damage. They reward a well-built party over a solo showcase, so their ceiling scales with your team composition.
Bentham (Outlaw)

Bentham the Secretary is a Resonance DPS with the Outlaw Identity. Her preview was captured at Level 28 of a 30 cap, showing 2,761 HP, 339 ATK, and a notably high 191 DEF, with CRIT values already nudged to 6.08% and 51.80%.
Rex (Hero)

Rex the Superintendent shares the Resonance DPS role but carries the Hero Identity. At Level 1 he shows 818 HP, 71 ATK, and 28 DEF, a balanced frame for a resonance-scaling damage dealer.
Break Suppressor
Break Suppressor characters specialize in building Stuns and breaking enemy poise, the setup role that opens windows for the rest of the team to burst.
Alf (Hero)

Alf the Maid is a Break Suppressor with the Hero Identity, wielding her signature flamethrower-styled weapon. Level 1 stats read 648 HP, 74 ATK, and 26 DEF. Her build focus is covered in the Alf maid guide.
Captain Kaboom (Saviour)

Captain Kaboom the Technician is a Break Suppressor with the Saviour Identity. At Level 1 she shows 696 HP, 74 ATK, and 24 DEF, an offense-leaning stun-builder to match her explosives-and-gadgets theme.
Lorin (Guardian)

Lorin the Chief Inspector rounds out the stun specialists as a Break Suppressor, but with the Guardian Identity. His Level 1 line is 744 HP, 76 ATK, and 21 DEF, and his mechanical gauntlet crackles with what reads as electric energy.
Combat Support
Combat Support is the buffer role, characters who make the rest of the team hit harder rather than dealing the damage themselves. It is the most populated role in this footage, with five characters.
Argos (Witness)

Argos the Bartender is a Combat Support with the Witness Identity. Level 1 stats: 696 HP, 67 ATK, 27 DEF. His MISS-affiliated bartender design leans into the observe-and-record flavor of the Witness archetype.
Cynthia II (Witness)

Cynthia II, Luna's Scion, is a Combat Support and a Witness. Her Level 1 stats are 844 HP, 71 ATK, and 27 DEF. This confirms the correction from earlier coverage: despite being a Witness, her role is support, not healing.
Grimm (Witness)

Grimm the Journalist is a Combat Support with the Witness Identity, and his was the most-invested preview in the set, shown at the Level 80 cap with 14,082 HP, 1,298 ATK, and 1,057 DEF. The journalist-who-records theme is about as on-the-nose as the Witness archetype gets.
Gucia (Saviour)

Gucia the Apprentice is a Combat Support with the Saviour Identity. Level 1 stats: 720 HP, 67 ATK, 26 DEF. Her spellbook-and-staff kit fits a caster-style buffer.
Red Rose (Saviour)

Red Rose the Dancer is a Combat Support and a Saviour, with the highest base HP of the Level 1 previews at 924, plus 79 ATK and 20 DEF. Her earlier kit reveal leaned Ignis; see the Red Rose kit reveal for more.
Survival & Healing
Survival & Healing is the dedicated sustain role, characters who keep the team alive with heals and shields.
Firtho (Guardian)

Firtho the Doctor is a Survival & Healing character with the Guardian Identity. Her preview was captured at Level 6, showing 1,482 HP, 139 ATK, and 43 DEF. The doctor-as-Guardian pairing reads as someone who protects life directly. See the Firtho design breakdown for more.
Gratia (Guardian)

Gratia the Knight is also Survival & Healing with the Guardian Identity. Level 1 stats: 844 HP, 71 ATK, and 27 DEF. Her armored, crowned design fits the sacred-protector reading of the Guardian archetype.
What this roster tells you
Two patterns stand out once the fourteen are laid side by side. First, Identity really is decoupled from role: the three Witnesses (Argos, Cynthia II, Grimm) are all Combat Support, but Saviours split between Combat Support and Break Suppressor, and Guardians split between Break Suppressor and Survival & Healing. There is no clean one-to-one mapping. Second, Combat Support is the deepest role in the early roster with five characters, while Striker DPS and Survival & Healing are the thinnest with two each, worth keeping in mind if you are planning team compositions around the launch roster.
None of this is final. Silver Palace is still pre-release, so labels, stats, and even which characters exist can change before launch. Treat the four systems (Combat Style, Identity, Reactor Attribute, and the stat lines) as the confirmed shape of things as of this footage, not a locked spec.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Combat Style and Identity in Silver Palace?
Combat Style is the gameplay role (Resonance DPS, Striker DPS, Break Suppressor, Combat Support, or Survival & Healing) that tells you what a character does in a fight. Identity (Hero, Guardian, Outlaw, Victim, Saviour, or Witness) is a narrative archetype describing the character's place in the story. Each character has one of each, and they are independent.
Why do the in-game Combat Style names differ from earlier guides?
Earlier expo footage used the translations Resonator Output, Striker Output, Break Oppressor, Combat Vanguard, and Survival Healer. This newer footage shows the in-game English UI labels as Resonance DPS, Striker DPS, Break Suppressor, Combat Support, and Survival & Healing. They refer to the same five roles.
Which Identity has no character yet?
Victim is the only one of the six Identities with no character attached in this preview footage. The other five (Hero, Guardian, Outlaw, Saviour, Witness) each appear at least once across the fourteen characters shown.
Are these character stats final?
No. Silver Palace is still in pre-release testing, and each preview was captured at a different character level, so the stat lines are neither final nor directly comparable. Treat all values as beta data that can change before launch.
