Silver Palace Detective Guide: Build, Combat Stances & Why the Protagonist Matters (2026)

Every gacha game has that one character you can't reroll away: the protagonist. In Silver Palace it's the Detective, and unlike a lot of free MCs, this one isn't a placeholder you bench at level 40.

Short version: the Detective is a guaranteed 5★ Gravitas Striker Output Hero who fights with a silver cane, a sword, and a gun, and who anchors both the combat system and the investigation mechanics. You can play male or female. A preview build's Character Identity screen names the female path Munin and lays out her full kit, covered below. You will use this character for the entire story whether you like them or not — so it's worth building them well.

The Detective at a glance

Attribute Detail
Rarity 5★ (guaranteed)
Role Hero (DPS), confirmed Striker Output Combat Style
Faction The Raven's Claws / The Raven's Beak
Weapon Sword + Gun + silver cane
Element Gravitas (confirmed for the female path, Munin)
Identity Hero

That element row used to say "unconfirmed" — a preview build's Character Identity screen has since confirmed Gravitas for the female Detective, Munin, along with a Striker Output Combat Style and Hero identity. Base Lv.1 stats from that build: 720 HP / 72 ATK / 24 DEF, 5% CRIT Rate, 50% CRIT DMG. Whether the male Detective shares the same element and kit under a different name hasn't been confirmed, so treat Gravitas as established for Munin specifically until that's clarified.

Who the Detective is

Three years before the story starts, a disaster drove the Detective out of Silvernia. They return in the third year of Queen Feliana's reign, into a city wearing a thin mask of peace over a tangle of conspiracies. A weak justice system. Opaque noble politics. Plenty of people with reasons to bury the truth.

The character themself is rational, efficient, clear-minded — chasing the truth behind a loved one's death. The raven motif runs through everything: the black hat with its white ribbon, the leather vest, the silvery cane that doubles as a weapon. It's a detective fantasy with teeth.

Combat: the confirmed kit

The Detective's hook is range flexibility. Melee with the sword and cane when you want pressure; switch to the gun when you need to poke from distance or punish a flying enemy. That stance dance is the skill expression — good players weave both, weaker ones pick one and stall.

Munin's full skill tree is now visible:

  • Double-Edged Sword - Truth & Deceit (Basic Attack) — a 5-hit combo dealing Gravitas DMG. The 3rd hit grants 1 Ammunition, the 5th grants 2, and the 5th hit can chain into Raven Slayer's 3rd hit by spending 1 Ammunition. Parrying doesn't break the combo, and a Perfect Dodge unlocks an immediate 5th-hit finisher that interrupts enemies. The Charged Attack scales at Lv.2 into a flurry that also grants Ammunition and Gravity Overdrive.
  • Raven Slayer (Skill) — a gun-stance follow-up that spends Ammunition; its Charged Shot is what feeds the Occam's Razor passive below.
  • Thus Spake the Raven (Ultimate) — at full charge, leaps into the air for a powerful Gravitas attack that creates a Gravity Field applying Time Dilation and dealing DMG over 3 seconds. Flavor line: "Reset the board! Nevermore!"
  • "One-Half" of a Retaliation (Tactical Assault) — switching Munin in with sufficient Reactor Energy unleashes a flurry of Gravitas attacks, granting up to 100 Gravity Overdrive.
  • Occam's Razor (Passive) — hitting an enemy with Raven Slayer's Charged Shot increases Ultimate DMG by 10%, stacking up to 2 times for 6s; parrying an attack grants 5 Gravity Overdrive.

Exact multipliers and Ammunition/Gravity Overdrive thresholds are still preview-build numbers, not release-final, but the shape is clear: build Ammunition with the sword combo, spend it into Raven Slayer, and time the Ultimate's Gravity Field for the Time Dilation window.

The investigation side deserves its own mention. The Detective drives the Sherlock Scan, clue collection, and crime-scene deduction loop — the stuff that makes Silver Palace a detective game and not just another action RPG. If that loop is new to you, the deduction system guide breaks it down.

How to build the Detective

Because the MC is a Hero, the Motives framework points the same way it does for any damage dealer:

  • Main stats: ATK%, CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG
  • Element bonus: match it to whatever element you're committing the Detective to
  • Substats: Energy Recharge to keep abilities flowing, then ATK

The smart move with an adaptable carry is to build them around your best team rather than in a vacuum. Running a Fire core with Cinderella and Cynthia II? Lean the Detective's element bonus into that core so you don't waste the Resonance slot.

Where the Detective sits on the tier list

S-tier by default, for a reason that has nothing to do with raw numbers: availability. You always have the Detective, you can always build them, and they fill whatever hole your gacha luck leaves. Specialized 5★ carries may out-damage the MC in their best team, but few units are this safe to invest in. See the full tier list for how that compares to the rest of the roster.

Is the Detective worth building?

Yes — and this is the rare "yes" with no caveat about banners, because you don't pull for them. Build the Detective early, keep their gear current, and you have a carry that works in every team you'll assemble. For new players, that stability is worth more than chasing the flashiest 5★. FAQ

Is the Detective free in Silver Palace?

Yes. The Detective is the protagonist and a guaranteed 5★, available to every player from the start — no gacha pull required.

Can you choose the Detective's gender?

Yes. You can play the Detective as male or female. The female path's Character Identity screen names her Munin and confirms her kit; whether the male path shares the same element and abilities under a different name hasn't been confirmed.

What element is the Detective in Silver Palace?

Gravitas, confirmed for the female Detective (Munin) via a preview build's Character Identity screen. Build her element bonus to match your strongest team's Resonance core.

Is the Detective a good main DPS?

The Detective is a confirmed Gravitas Striker Output Hero whose biggest strength is guaranteed availability. Dedicated 5★ carries can out-damage them in a specialized team, but the MC is one of the safest long-term investments in the game.

Who is Munin in Silver Palace?

Munin is the name shown on the female Detective's Character Identity screen in a preview build. It hasn't been explained in official lore yet, but it fits the raven motif running through the Detective's design (Huginn and Munin are Odin's ravens in Norse myth).
