Silver Palace Gacha System Explained: Pity & Rates
How the Silver Palace Gacha Works: Rates, Pity & Banners
Silver Palace calls a pull a Revelation, and the whole system runs on detective flavour: you spend Judgement Shots on characters and Deduction Shots on Motives, then read the results like case files. The Dichotomy Beta gave the first proper look at the real rates, so here is how it actually works, straight off the in-game detail screens.
The short version: a 5-star character has a 0.8% base rate (about 1.8% once average pity is folded in), you are guaranteed at least one 4-star every 10 Revelations, and hitting 100 Revelations on a limited banner guarantees the current featured 5-star. Motives run on the same skeleton with an 80-pull ceiling instead of 100.
One thing worth saying up front, because it is the question everyone actually has: whether pity carries between banners is not confirmed. More on that below, because it is the part the beta text pointedly does not answer.
What a Revelation is
Every pull is a Revelation. Characters and Motives sit on separate banners with separate currencies, so a 10-pull on the character banner does nothing for your Motive pity and vice versa. The current limited character event is labelled a "Limited-Time Repertoire" (this one is "The Vengeful Ant"), and the limited Motive event is a "Limited-Time Monologue" ("Her Heart, the Flames Within").
That wording matters more than it looks. Both event types "share a featured 5-star guarantee mechanic, which resets once you obtain a featured 5-star." Hold that sentence. It is the hinge the entire carry-over debate turns on.
The rates at a glance
Here is what the character banner detail page lists:
| Rarity | Base rate | Overall (incl. guarantees) | Hard ceiling |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5-star character | 0.8% | 1.8% | 100 Revelations → featured 5-star |
| 4-star content | 6% | 13% | 10 Revelations → one 4-star |
| 3-star Motive | 93.2% | equal odds across the pool | filler |
The 0.8% is the number to internalise. That "overall 1.8%" figure is not a second, higher base rate you can feel on any given pull; it is the effective rate after you average in the pity that eventually rescues you. On a single Revelation, you are looking at 0.8%.
The 4-star floor: every 10 Revelations
This is the reliable part. Every 10 Revelations guarantee at least one 4-star, so a single 10-pull never comes back empty of anything shiny. When a 4-star does land, there is a 50% chance it is one of the featured 4-stars, and if you keep missing, 20 Revelations guarantee a featured one. So the worst-case 4-star drought is short and predictable.
The 5-star guarantee: what "up to 100" really means
Here is where players reach for the "50/50" language from other gacha games, and it is close enough to be useful as long as you know where it breaks.
Up to 100 Revelations guarantee the current featured 5-star. Before you hit that ceiling, any 5-star you pull is a coin flip: it might be the featured character (Ashley, on the current banner), or it might be one of the standard 5-stars. Lose that flip and the guarantee is still sitting there waiting. Win it, or grind all the way to 100, and you walk away with the featured unit. Then the guarantee resets for the next one.

The honest caveat: 0.8% is low enough that you should not count on seeing a 5-star early. You can absolutely walk from pull 1 to pull 100 without a single one, then collect the featured character at the ceiling. Plan your Judgement Shots around the 100, not around getting lucky at 20.
Who is on the current banner
The Dichotomy Beta "The Vengeful Ant" banner breaks down like this:
- Featured 5-star: Ashley.
- Standard 5-stars (the ones you can lose the 50/50 to): Cynthia II, Rex, and Gratia.
- Featured 4-stars: Argos, Captain Kaboom, and Gucia.
- Other 4-stars in the pool: Firtho, Alf, Lorin, Grimm, and Bentham.
If you are still learning the cast before you spend anything, the full Silver Palace character roster is the place to start, and our combat and role guides cover what each of these units actually does in a fight.
Motive banners work the same, with an 80 ceiling
Motives are the game's equivalent of weapons, and the top rarity you can pull is a 5-star Motive. The banner reuses almost the entire character structure: 0.8% base 5-star rate, 1.8% overall, a 4-star floor every 10 Revelations, 6% / 13% on 4-star content, and 93.2% on 3-star Motives with equal odds inside that pool.
The one number that changes is the ceiling. Up to 80 Revelations guarantee the current featured 5-star Motive, not 100. When you do land a 5-star Motive, there is a flat 50% chance it is the featured one ("The Burning Stone Mystery" on the current banner).

So the Motive banner is slightly kinder on the ceiling but pays out gear, not characters. Budget your Deduction Shots separately.
The Judgement Shot's own flavour text is worth a read: "Existing only within the Mind Palace, it takes the form of a bullet shaped by the golden ratio, a means of shattering old conventions and breaking new ground. It can only be fired by those with the resolve to look beyond surface appearances. When you have eliminated all which is impossible, then whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth." The closing line paraphrases Sherlock Holmes directly, in keeping with the game's Epiphanies literary references.

Mind Shards, Mind Grains, and duplicates
Pulling is not pure loss even when you miss. Duplicates and misses feed back into two currencies:
- Your first copy of a 5-star character hands you a bonus 20 Mind Shards.
- The next 6 duplicates of that character convert into their Psyches, and each one still pays out 20 Mind Shards.
- From the 7th duplicate onward, each copy is worth 50 Mind Shards.
- 4-star characters follow the same shape at smaller values, and every 3-star Motive you reveal drops Mind Grains.
The takeaway: spark copies of a character you already own are not dead pulls. They build the Psyches first, then turn into a steadier Mind Shard trickle once all six are unlocked.
The Argent Docks' Shard Exchange puts hard numbers on that trickle: 12 Mind Shards convert into one Shot of any type (Judgement, Deduction, Standard or Bullet of Insight), and 90 Mind Shards buy a character-specific "Mystery" item, seen capped at 2 stock at a time. At 12 Shards per Shot, banking the 20-Shard payouts from early duplicates adds up faster than it looks.

The standard banner
Alongside the limited events there is a standard banner, and the details here come from hands-on beta play rather than the rate-up text. It runs an 80-pull hidden ceiling, its 5-stars appear to be a straight 50/50 across Cynthia, Rex, and Gratia with no way to pick a specific character, and its Motives also sit at 80 Revelations on the same 0.8% rate. Treat the standard banner as the slow, steady pool, not the place to chase a specific unit.
A discounted shot bundle, seen but not confirmed
A CBT2 testing session also turned up a shop offer selling discounted bundles of five Shots per banner type (limited and standard character, limited and standard Motive), on what looked like a monthly reset rather than a per-patch one. This has not been independently verified elsewhere, and whether the bundle is bought with Reactor Crystals, a separate in-game currency, or real money is unconfirmed either way. The site's own Monotype vs Dichotomy breakdown still lists neither closed beta as having shipped monetisation, so read this as an unconfirmed beta observation rather than a documented feature.
Does pity carry over between banners? (Unconfirmed)
This is the real question, and the beta does not answer it. Read the guarantee line again: the featured 5-star guarantee "resets once you obtain a featured 5-star character." It says nothing about what happens to an unfinished pity count when one banner ends and the next begins.
That silence is doing a lot of work. In closed beta 1 the limited-character ceiling was reportedly around 120 and it has since been lowered to 100, which is a genuinely good sign that Elementa is reading feedback. But the Dichotomy Beta only runs a single banner, so there is literally no second banner to test carry-over against. Nobody outside the studio knows yet.
Here is the worst case worth bracing for: you pull 80 times, come up empty, the banner ends, and your count resets to zero on the next one. If the game copies the no-carry-over model some of its peers use, that is exactly what happens, and it stings. The optimistic case is that feedback pushes it the other way.
If you get into a test, fill out the surveys and say you want pity to carry. That 120-to-100 change is proof the number is not fixed in stone. Until an official banner-to-banner transition is documented, assume nothing and pull with the reset in mind.
For context on where these numbers first surfaced, see our writeup of the Anime Expo build and the leaked CBT2 gacha rates, and if you are trying to get into a test yourself, start with the Dichotomy Beta sign-up guide and the pre-download guide. We also track the other gacha betas running this month across the games our team covers.
One last note for the lore-curious: Red Rose Dancer is not a playable pull right now. She shows up inside Cinderella's Revelation animation, not on any banner, so do not go hunting for her name in the rate-up list.
FAQ
What are the summon rates in Silver Palace?
A 5-star character has a 0.8% base rate and about a 1.8% overall rate once average pity is included. 4-star content is 6% base and 13% overall, and 3-star Motives fill the remaining 93.2% with equal odds across the pool. Motive banners use the same 0.8% and 6% base rates.
What is the pity in Silver Palace?
Every 10 Revelations guarantee at least one 4-star. On a limited-character banner, up to 100 Revelations guarantee the current featured 5-star. On a limited-Motive banner, that ceiling is 80 Revelations. The standard banner uses an 80-pull ceiling.
Is the Silver Palace gacha a 50/50?
Effectively yes, before the ceiling. Any 5-star you pull before hitting the guarantee has roughly a 50% chance of being the featured character rather than a standard one. Lose it and the guarantee carries you to the featured unit at 100 pulls (80 for Motives).
Does pity carry over between banners in Silver Palace?
Unconfirmed. The beta text only says the featured 5-star guarantee resets once you obtain a featured 5-star, and it does not address unfinished pity when a banner ends. The Dichotomy Beta runs a single banner, so carry-over cannot be tested yet. The ceiling did drop from about 120 in CBT1 to 100, which suggests feedback matters.
What are Judgement Shots and Deduction Shots?
Judgement Shots are the currency for character Revelations, and Deduction Shots are the currency for Motive Revelations. They are separate, so pulling on one banner does not build pity on the other.
What do you get from duplicate characters?
Your first 5-star character gives 20 Mind Shards. The next 6 duplicates convert into that character's Psyches and each still gives 20 Mind Shards. From the 7th duplicate onward, each copy is worth 50 Mind Shards. 4-star duplicates follow the same pattern at lower values, and 3-star Motives drop Mind Grains.
